Audrey Hepburn is one of my favourite actresses. Who doesn’t, after all? Audrey was featured in our “heroes” section a while back, and I extolled her countless merits. However, you can’t talk about Audrey without mentioning her style. I’ve started dabbling in the oh-so-frightening realm of adult fashion, and I’ve developed a few go-to looks. And my “default” look is becoming increasingly minimal, clean, and classy. Audrey, in a nutshell.

Pants.
Audrey was a pants-wearing girl. When she had the option, she preferred pants to skirts. So, if you want to be like her, invest in a few good pairs of jeans. For jeans, choose a bootcut or matchstick style that isn’t too tight or too loose. Audrey was smitten by the dark wash and ankle cut. Capris were also a big component of her look.
I frequently wear a $35 pair of American Eagle jeans or my favourite pair of J-crew ankle-cut trousers that look great as capris to achieve my Audrey look. You don’t have to go broke to get them: the important thing is that they fit.
Tops.
TOPS Button downs are my go-to tops. They’re simple, clean, and make you look polished. Sweaters that are loose and easy to put on. I love the Gap sweaters since they can be worn with button downs or on their own. Audrey was a great fan of turtlenecks, but I despise them. Choose from basic black or white if you like them. If you prefer sweaters, opt for a boatneck style.

Shoes.
MY GO-TO SHOES are my Steve Madden flats in brown leather. However, you do not have to pay that much. Audrey, too, was dressed in sneakers. Get yourself a pair of Keds! I really like a pair of bright orange lace-less slip-ons from Target. I also have a pair of Target leopard print flats that are quite nice.
ACCESSORIES & JEWELRY.
My favourite set of little pearls, stud earrings, and the same two rings I wear every day are my go-to pieces. Audrey never wore a lot of jewellery, preferring to keep things simple. And, of course, the black glasses are required. Audrey’s characteristic glasses were the cat eyes, which I wear. Make sure they’re simple, any type you choose!
You don’t have to dress exactly like Audrey to emulate her: just take the fundamentals of her timeless style and make it your own! Keep it Audrey, keep it classy, keep it clean.
